We will describe biological polymers with minimum organic chemistry emphasizing the forces that come into play in their assembly and function. Some examples will be DNA, RNA, and specific proteins such as tubulin and actin. Professor Philip Pincus, Physics and Materials Department, works in the theoretical aspects of biomolecular materials. His background is in condensed matter physics.
Professor Pincus, Physics and Materials Department, teaches statistical mechanics, electricity and magnetism, polymer physics, and soft condensed matter.
