More students than ever are studying abroad. In this seminar we'll explore the reasons for this, what's involved in an extended time of living and studying in a foreign culture, and the demands of adapting to another culture. Which students should study abroad, which shouldn't? UC's Education Abroad Program will be an inevitable focus of our explorations, but we'll look at other ways students study abroad as well.
Professor Michael O'Connell, English, teaches a variety of courses including English renaissance literature and late medieval and renaissance dramas. He was EAP study center director in the UK and Ireland from 1992-1994 and has served on various senate committees concerned with study abroad.
