An introduction to the vibrant new writings by U.S. Latinos--Chicanos, Puerto Ricans, Cuban Americans, and Dominican-Americans, whose work is making an important mark on mainstream American culture. Topics include cultural hybridity, post-Movement identity, postmodernism, gender dynamics, and popular religiosity.
Professor Ellen McCracken, Spanish and Portuguese, is author of the book New Latina Narrative and numerous articles on contemporary Chicano/Latino literature. She teaches undergraduate courses on The Chicano Novel, U.S. Latino Literature, Contemporary Latin American Fiction and Contemporary Literature of the Americas.
