Description:
An examination of the effects of jazz and blues on African American and American poetry, and on slang or jive talk. The works of Sterling Brown, Langston Hughes, Ted Jones, Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, and other poets to be discussed.

Professor Douglas Daniels, Black Studies & History, has interviewed jazz and blues musicians for over twenty years and written a biography of saxophonist Lester “Pres” Young, a history of the Oklahoma City Blues Devils, and several articles on jive talk and jazz culture.
