Location: TD 2600
Enrollment Code: 67769
Description:
Using examples from stage, film and television, we will look at
different types and styles of acting. We will study the elements
of acting, along with the skills, imagination and creativity that
the great actor possesses. Taught by the Director of the BFA Actor
Training Program here at UCSB, students will discuss the life of
the actor, meet guest actors, and even have a chance to do some
acting in class if they so desire. No acting ability or experience
is required!! This is a chance to study an underappreciated art
form, one that looks effortless on the surface, but requires a great
deal of skill and craft.
Professor Irwin Appel, Theater and Dance, teaches Shakespeare, Directing, Theatre Appreciation, and all levels of Acting. He is an Equity actor, director and composer/sound designer and has worked professionally in New York, Los Angeles and at major theatres and Shakespearean festivals throughout the United States.
