Description:
This introduction to Kafka traces a three-part development in his short
stories, beginning with the breakthrough creation of “The Judgement” (which
Kafka also called “The Ghost of a Single Night”), continuing with the
allegorical staging of nonarrival in “The Hunter Gracchus” and concluding
with testamentary tales of acceptance of limits, like “The Hunger Artist.”
