Mondays, 11-11:50am, GIRV 1108

Enrollment Code: 50245

This course will examine the way which health policy is affected by the political process. Specifically, the course will look at the way governments respond to epidemics or threats of biological weapons, the reasons why certain illnesses receive more governmental research funding than others, and the way that medical intelligence about leadership can be exploited for political gain.

Professor Rose McDermott, Political Science, is focused on studying political psychology. She has written a book for Cambridge University Press on the impact of medical and psychological illness on foreign policy decision-making. Professor McDermott has taught undergraduate courses in American Foreign Policy, International Relations, and Political Psychology.
