This seminar will study some of the enduring controversies in American politics by using the U.S. Constitution as a benchmark. We will explore controversies about freedom of speech, establishment of religion, abortion, capital punishment, and the taking of private property by the government. Seminar format will encourage debate and discussion. A short paper will be due.
Professor Alan Wyner, Dean of Undergraduate Studies in the College of Letters and Science, he is also a faculty member in political science and teaches courses on Environmental Politics, Public Administration, and California Government and Politics.
