Description:
This seminar will focus on the effects that club drugs have on
brain function that result in the change in behavior, called
addiction. Students will become familiar with the mechanisms
of action of “classical” drugs of abuse (e.g. cocaine, the
amphetamines, heroin, alcohol and LSD) and the short-and-long
term consequences of theses drugs on brain function.
Professor Karen Szumlinski, Psychology, teaches biological basis of behavior, neuropharmacology, behavioral pharmacology, and addiction biology.
