historical dynamics that frame them, as well as the identity issues of people of mixed descent. Reading will include a novel, poetry and several articles by historians, sociologists, and psychologists. We will see and discuss at
least one movie.
Professor Paul Spickard, History, has written the standard book on interracial romance and marriage, as well as many articles on multiracial identity. He teaches a large course on these issues in the Asian American Studies and History departments.
